Speaking to the Press at his political backyard in Kanduyi on Friday, Wetangula said politicizing issues will not help the opposition to defeat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

The Ford Kenya leader instead urged politicians in the region to mobilize the residents to register as voters in order to make the dream of driving Jubilee out of power come true.

According to Wetangula, cheap politics is likely to cost the opposition the presidency.

"Know that this is no time to engage in politics but to mobilize and advise our people to register as voters," he said, as quoted by Star.

The Senator also said the easiest and only way to unseat President Kenyatta is by having opposition supporters register in large numbers.

"If you want to change the leadership by voting for the opposition, go and register and have your weapon — the voter’s card — ready,’’ he added.

He further pointed out that other regions are doing well in registration than Western region.

"If you visit other regions, especially in Rift Valley and Central, you will realize there’s a lot of development. It has been brought about by leaders who have the people’s interests at heart," Wetang’ula said.

Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi was also present.
