Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang'ula has called on IEBC to extend the voter registration deadline due to a low turnout.
Wetang'ula has blamed the low numbers on "poor sensitisation" by the commission.
''The IEBC intendeds to register more people but has only managed 2.1 million. We are appealing to them to extend the period for more people to register and participate in electing leaders of their choice,'' said Wetang'ula.
The Bungoma senator was addressing the press at Kanduyi Red Cross on Saturday.
“If we continue to register after February 14, there will be limited time to do the clean-up which is slated for February 14 to May 10,” he told them during the Parliamentary Leadership Summit in Mombasa.
IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati has ruled out any extension possibility.
