National Super Alliance (NASA) principal Moses Wetang'ula has castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta for snubbing presidential debate that was held on Monday at the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA).
By keeping off the event organised by the media, Wetang'ula said, the President portrayed his unmindfulness to the needs of Kenyans who were eagerly waiting for the televised debate.
“The debate was a platform that the President could have used to address the many problems facing the country but he opted to miss out. Kenyans need to punish him for showing disregard to them," Wetang'ula said on Tuesday.
The Ford-Kenya party leader also accused the Jubilee administration of failing to shield Kenyans against the high cost of living which he said was caused by corruption.
"Uhuru and Ruto are crisscrossing the country bribing voters with millions they have stolen from national coffers. Poor Kenyans are dying due to lack of food whose prices they can't afford. These guys need to go home," he added.
Wetang'ula made the remarks when the opposition alliance took its campaign to Embu, Meru and Tharaka Nithi.
He was accompanied by NASA presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.
