According to Mr. Sifuna, Wetangula had a poor relationship with his fellow senators to the extent that he could not even marshal their support.

Speaking to Citizen TV during an interview, Mr. Sifuna said that there was no way Wetang'ula could lead Luhyas if he was not able to provide leadership to only 28 senators.

"He has to develop respect and his relationship with his colleagues in the Senate and if he fails to do that, if he fails to marshal the support of just 28 people there is no way he can go around Luhya land claiming that he can lead us as Luhyas or indeed as the president of the republic," said Sifuna.

Responding to the claims by Wetang'ula that Raila had betrayed the coalition, Mr. Sifuna had to take it back to memory lane. He went ahead to remind him that the brotherhood that used to be in NASA no longer exists.

"I think they should be the last people to talk about failing anyone because they have failed us terribly especially on 30th. NASA as brotherhood at least, not a coalition but as brotherhood died on the 30th," he confirmed.

Mr. Sifuna as well declared that he did not recognise Wetang'ula as a Luhya elder as he claims because nobody chose him to be one.

"I may be young but I don't remember any meeting of Luhyas where they decided that Wetangula was their leader. So just the way he declared himself Luhya leader we have the same equal ability to declare ourselves leaders of the community. What is it that makes him more Luhya than us," asked Mr. Sifuna.
