Speaking after a weekend of a flurry of activities by the coalition partners, Wetang’ula dismissed the claims he was planning to weaken the opposition by dividing it in the event that he does not get the flag bearer position.

"We founded Cord. None of the three of us [co-principals] is an invitee. How do I leave a house I built?" Wetang'ula said as quoted by the Star.

Already, Wetang’ula has a new chopper branded in Ford-K colours with the senator's PA Mandu Mandu confirming that the craft belongs to Wetangula.

“We want to create some space, move up and down as we appeal for support ahead of the coalition nomination for President," Mandu was quoted by the publication.

Allegations that Wetang’ula is being bankrolled by Jubilee were dismissed by Ford Kenya secretary general Eseli Simiyu.

He accused ODM members of using the allegations to discredit the Bungoma senator.

But Wetang’ula may find it hard to smart out of this debacle since he has repeatedly called for Raila’s retirement and his endorsing someone else to be the flag bearer.

The latest was on Sunday when he asked Raila to be a kingmaker by shelving his presidential ambitions and backing him and Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka for the top job.

Speaking in Narok, he said that Raila is an old man who would have a special place in the Cord government if he agreed to be the kingmaker.

Wetang’ula has not been especially kind to Rail ain his push for the support having also likened the former PM to an impotent man unable to impregnate a wife.

All the coalition partners have been busy selling their individual agenda as their opponents Jubilee Party is working on the nominations for other posts.

Cord supporters have asked that the coalition name a flag bearer by December.
