Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has welcomed ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi to Cord but only on a condition that he (Mudavadi) supports his candidature.
Speaking in Bungoma during the burial of Mzee William Wanyonyi on Saturday, Mr Wetangula noted that the cries of the 'Mulembe Nation' to have a single presidential candidate was necessary, hinting that he has held talks with former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo and Mudavadi on the same.
"We as presidential hopefuls have sat down and talked. We do not have a problem. (...) What we want is to unite and liberate our community from being oppressed politically," he said.
"I have talked to Jirongo and I am appealing to my brother Mudavadi to back my candidature so that our energy as Luhyas in this race may increase and be strong. In 2002 during the Kijana Wamalwa time, we voted as one. If we unite nothing will defeat us," he continued.
Wetangula also said that the Luhya community will work with like-minded communities in order to clinch the presidency.
