The tension that has been brewing in the Cord coalition over the last few weeks is far from over with Luo elders joining  Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula's onslaught over his remark on Raila.

During his campaign in Narok last weekend, the Ford Kenya Party Leader had likened Raila to a barren woman unable to bear children in reference to his three failed presidential bids.

The remark has since generated mixed reactions with ODM brigade accusing Wetangula, who is also the Cord coalition hopeful, of carrying out personalized campaigns.

The issue has now taken a new twist after a section of Luo elders demanded that Wetangula should publicly apologize immediately over his remark.

Speaking in Kisumu, the group chairman Willis Otondi and Secretary Otieno Nyaddy said that Wetangula's statement is abusive and that it would be prudent that he apologizes immediately.

"What the Cord co-principal said was abusive. Wetang'ula owes us an apology as a community. The principals are still exploring avenues of having a flag bearer and Mr. Odinga has not yet been endorsed  for Mr. Wetangula to use such words against him," Otondi was quoted by Daily Nation.

The Senate Minority leader has since defended himself saying his remark was not meant to disrespect Raila in anyway.
