[Photo|Courtesy]Simon Lonyai, a police constable attached to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula's security team, has been charged in a Nairobi court.The bodyguard was charged with causing disturbance and resisting arrest at the Supreme Court buildings, Wednesday.He was accused of creating disturbance which would likely affect peace by pushing Nairobi Central Police Division OCPD, Robinson Thuku, Monday August 28, 2017The youthful officer was also accused of resisting arrest by pushing his senior, in company of other officers.During the altercation as he tried to defend Wetangula who alongside other NASA principals had been blocked from accessing Supreme Court, Lonyai was arrested, disarmed and barred from accessing the court.

He was later recalled from the senator and allegedly dismissed from the police service.However, Deputy Inspector General of Police Joel Kitili dismissed that Lonyai was dismissed, saying a disciplinary action had not been issued to him.Appearing before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the accuse denied the accusations and was released on a Sh20,000 personal bond.The court further directed him to deposit his national identity card with the court, ahead of hearing of the case on September 18.
