Opposition alliance NASA coalition partner Amani National Congress (ANC) has said Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula's alleged contemplation to seek re-election during the August polls will paint NASA in bad light.
Speaking on Monday, Western region ANC coordinator Major Malala faulted Wetangula's move, saying it does not inspire confidence among NASA supporters.
He further noted that NASA affiliate parties would still field candidates in the position as earlier planned, adding that Wetang'ula should not expect special treatment.
“Reports the decision by Wetang’ula to contest for the Bungoma Senate seat will complicate matters for other candidates are misleading because that is simply a Ford Kenya affair," Malala observed.
“He should not expect preferential treatment from the NASA family. His decision is in the first place unfortunate, because we should give our people confidence if we are to take power from Jubilee in August," he added.
According to the NASA deal unveiled at Uhuru Park, Wetang'ula is poised for a senior government position in the event NASA wins the presidential elections.
Among those eyeing to replace Wetang'ula in the Senate are Bonny Nyongesa (ODM) and Juma Mukhwana (Jubilee Party).
