Over the weekend, Wetangula announced that his political ties with Raila had been ended after a series of wrangles were witnessed.

"My friend Raila, I have no hard feelings for you but our journey with you is over. We are no longer going to allow people to use us to get to the top and while there, they start urinating on us," said Wetangula while speaking in Bungoma over the weekend.

According to Khalwale, the party was now open to dialogue with any other interested partner(s) regarding its political future.

"Wetangula's position on the matter is an expression of the party that will put the interest Luhya community first. We are not beholden to Raila and now life goes on. We are free to engage with parties and communities with similar interests," Khalwale told Kenyans.co.ke.

Currently, there is a planned merger between Ford Kenya and Amani National Coalition (ANC).
