Speaking during a secondary school principals’ meeting in Kisumu, Wetangula announced that he will vie for the presidency in 2022.Wetangula said he is qualified for the job and asked his co-principals in NASA to rally behind him.“Without any fear of contradiction, I will be on the ballot in 2022 and am asking my brother Raila, my brother Kalonzo and my brother Mudavadi to let me try this horse this time,” said Wetangula. The Bungoma Senator said he will hold talks with the other three NASA co-principals regarding his 2022 State House bid, adding that he is confident they will throw their weight behind him.“This does not preclude anybody else from asking me to support them because that is what politics is all about,” said Wetangula. He called upon the people of Western Kenya to support him in 2022, in a bid to ensure the Jubilee government does not win in the polls.Wetangula further dismissed claims of a fallout in NASA, adding that the principals are equal partners who are determined to push the coalition’s reforms agenda forward.“We are championing a common cause for the people of Kenya. We are together in a unity to give this country reforms and to give the people a better Kenya,” he added, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
