Speaking during the International Day of Cooperatives at the county headquarters in Eldoret town, Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno reaffirmed the county government's commitment to continue supporting cooperatives.
He said cooperatives movements had transformed many livelihoods in the county both directly and indirectly.
"The County will continue offering support to the cooperatives in Uasin-Gishu County. The establishment of the Enterprise fund loans, AI Services, Milk Coolers, feed mixers, cold stores and Potato cold stores are among the many programs that the county has put in place to support the cooperative movement," said Chemno.
"We are committed to availing more funds to cooperatives so that they can be able built their capacity," he added.
CeC in charge of cooperatives Philip Melly reiterated county governments commitment of increasing the enterprise funds for more cooperatives to benefit.
"We will set aside 1 billion revolving fund for cooperatives which will be disbursed at an interest rate of 5 percent," said Melly.
He revealed that they have registered 75 new cooperatives and revived 37 cooperatives which were in a dilapidated condition.
The event was attended by over 800 cooperatives from across the county.
