Nairobi County Governor Evans Kidero insists that his county government has done enough to reduce regular traffic jams.
According to the governor, the county has implemented short, medium and long-term measures to curb tr4affic congestion.
In an article on the Standard Newspaper on Monday, Kidero says the plan seems to be working and there is a lot more to be implemented.
“In the short term, we are reviewing all public service vehicles termini and bus stops in the city and redesign routes to avoid termination of PSV’s in the CBD,” he is quoted as saying.
He further says that the congestion that is being experienced in the city is due to exponential growth in vehicle population without commensurate expansion of road infrastructure.
He however notes that the long-term projects including the expansion of various road networks will see the menace reduced to manageable levels.
“We have suspended licensing of PSVs on city routes until a demand analysis of all routes is undertaken to justify issuance of additional licenses,” he added.
Traffic in Nairobi has been a longtime menace, with the county having tried to curb it by all means.
