A group of People Living with disabilities in Uasin Gishu county now says that they have no personal differences with the Uasin Gishu County Assembly nominated MCAs.

The group has filed a petition in the Eldoret Magistrates court challenging the process used in the 17 MCA's nomination.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Thursday, the chairperson of the umbrella of people living with disabilities in the county Regina Chumba said they are only interested in ensuring they have a constitutional representation at the County Assembly.

"We didn't get a male and female representation at the County Assembly for the PWDs and this is why we are in court today challenging the nomination process," Chumba said.

"For the record we've no differences with the individual nominated MCA's, all we want is to have one of us championing for our interested as required by the constitution," she added.

Hearing for the case is yet to kick off and the Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa is on January 17, 2018, expected to make a ruling on two applications that will determine whether the case will proceed.

One application is by the nominated MCA's who have been named as respondents who want the case thrown out for lack of merit.

The PWDs on the other side has filed an application seeking the Sh100,000 security deposit for the case waived.
