An MP allied to the ruling Jubilee party has said the recent meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga did not discuss anything to do with the re-introduction of the prime minister position.
Aden Duale (Garissa Township) said on Sunday that Uhuru and Raila's meeting dwelt on how leaders in government and in the opposition can closely work for the betterment of the country.
Re-introducing the prime minister post which existed between 2007 and 2013 would require a referendum which he said is impractical now.
"Those people who think we are going to come to the table to discuss change of the Constitution, myself as the Leader of Majority, I am not part of that," the former Dujis MP and Parliament Majority Leader said.
There has been talk since Uhuru and Raila met at Harambee House in Nairobi that there are plans to amend the Constitution and create a prime minister's position for Raila as Uhuru seeks to mend fences with opposition leaders after a long and gruelling campaign period that polarized the country.
There were also claims that accord that will create the position will also create two deputy prime minster position for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.
