A section of the Somali community living at the Coast has denied media reports that indicated that they have backed certain political parties, terming the allegations as untrue.
The community representatives stated that the news making rounds are misleading, and that they were created by political detractors.
According to the community's chair Mohamed Abdi, the community is yet to decide whom to rally support for or even front for the various political seats.
He revealed that some people were in the habit of making personal statements and later pretend to be talking on behalf of the larger community.
Abdim Hajir Maow and Abdinur Ali lamented that several aspirants including the Changamwe legislative hopeful Abdi Daib have recently been making inflammatory statements, in what they said is contrary to their community principles.
While also reacting to a local radio announcement that had invited the community to October 2nd Jubilee political meeting to be chaired by Garissa MP Aden Duale, the community elites said that they are yet to decide on their political future and even the path to follow in the 2017 elections.
