Amani National Congress (ANC) MPS have insisted that they will ‘punish’ the NASA coalition if they do not get a nomination as Deputy Minority leader in the National assembly.

The leaders, who spoke during a press conference at the parliament buildings on Thursday, said the coalition will suffer consequences, which they did not specify.

Led by Lugari MP Ayub Savula, they accused NASA of favouring some individuals, despite the party’s efforts to drum support for the coalition in the Western region.

“The position of deputy minority leader was supposed to be ANC’s. As a party we have contributed a lot to the coalition and its only fair we get the position,” said Savula.

His comments come after another burst up on Wednesday, where they said the party will withdraw their support from the opposition coalition, as they want to push their party leader for the presidency in 2022.

“As ANC we are going for a retreat on December 7 in Naivasha to decide the way forward. We are thinking about settling on Musalia Mudavadi as our presidential candidate in 2022 and stay away from forming coalitions that won’t work,” said Savula.

The leaders are angered after NASA picked John Mbadi as the minority leader in parliament, deputized by Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.

These are not the only cracks in the coalition, with Coast region leaders threatening to also take action, claiming they have been shortchanged.
