Mutua is expected to dig deep into his pocket to sustain an election petition appeal.

The governor has said he will move to the Supreme Court after the appellant court nullified his win.

Mutua said he was surprised by the court's ruling but will seek justice for the residents of the county.

“We are surprised by their finding. It is very clear they misunderstood what was presented before them. We are going to appeal to the Supreme Court. We are still in office. I will continue discharging my duties,” Mutua said.

If Mutua does not win the appeal at the Supreme Court, then he will have to go back to the people of Machakos.

The governor will have to spend more money to sustain his campaigns.

He will also need to spend more time to traverse the county to convince the residents to back his re-election.

Mutua will have to pitch tents across different parts of the county in order to beat Wiper’s candidate.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka's influence will play an immense role in the race for the region's gubernatorial race in case by-election is called by the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
