The Memorandum of Understanding MoU between Wiper Party and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has caused a storm in the National Super Alliance (NASA).
Led by National Assembly Minority leader Francis Nyenze, politicians from Ukambani have said No Kalonzo no NASA.
Kalonzo greatest worry is not Cord Raila Amolo Odinga, President Uhuru Kenyatta or Deputy President William Ruto but the support leaders from his community have accorded him.
It will be hard for Kalonzo to convince his community to back him for Presidency in 2022.
The former vice President has been in the political arena for more than 30 years, which is enough to make him well prepared to lead this nation. It is difficult to tell a man from Matungulu or any other part of Ukambani that Raila will back Kalonzo in 2022 if he has failed to obey the MoU drafted between him and the Wiper party boss in 2013.
As much as Ukambani people are likely to vote for Raila- Kalonzo combination, they will not do so with enthusiasm. It has taken Kalonzo sleepless nights to form a formidable team that can stand with him to the ballot box.
A few months ago, the former vice President was a laughing stock in the political arena. Wiper recorded the highest number of defections in the politics of this nation. Kalonzo had to pitch tents in different parts of the region to ensure that they speak one voice.
With the likes of Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua fighting to build their political parties, it is unexpected for Kalonzo to pave way for any other candidate. What will Kalonzo tell Nyenze, Ngilu, Musila and other leaders who joined forces to ensure he rises to power?
