President Uhuru Kenyatta will have an uphill task governing this nation after NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga boycotts the election, political pundit Nelson Havi had opined.

In an opinion piece published in The Star, Havi argued that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will have no choice but to present two presidential candidates; Uhuru Kenyatta and Dr. Ekuru Aukot. He also said that the voters can go ahead and elect Uhuru but the election will not meet the required threshold.

“Raila boycotts the election, then the IEBC will be left with a scenario of having two candidates,” Uhuru Kenyatta and Dr Ekuru Aukot’ he says

He also states that the Jubilee party will ensure one voter turns up at every polling station to validate Uhuru’s win.

The renowned lawyer, however, says that the economy is likely to collapse considering the recent twist of events in the nation citing media frustrations, civil society attacks among others.

“I can see the economy collapsing. Between August and now we have seen the crackdown on peaceful demonstrations, media, civil society and judiciary, which is enough evidence,” he stated.
