However, over the weekend, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa who had toured Raila's home county of Siaya indicated that the two leaders are set for a trip to launch a multi-billion water project which is funded by the Government of Kenya and African Development Bank.

President Kenyatta's previous visits to the region have been chaotic with his tour of Migori some years back highlighting a deeper political rivalry with Raila.

During that particular visit, several youths were arrested for throwing shoes to the dias where the President was about to address his audience.

However, with the newfound love between Uhuru and his longtime political rival as a result of the March 9 handshake, the President should be prepared for a warm welcome.

Even those who had previously opposed the duo's move have slowly toned down even as the country slips over new political page. But again, Uhuru's reception in Nyanza will also depend on how lawyer Miguna Miguna who is set to jet back to the country on Wednesday after his March deportation will be received.

In the past, Miguna's treatment at JKIA angered his supporters in Kisumu who dared Uhuru and Raila to visit the region.
