The Thursday surprise meeting between ODM leader Raila Odinga and former retired President Daniel Arap Moi should be a wakeup call for Deputy President William Ruto in his bid to be president in 2022, political analyst Peter ngure has said.

Ngure notes that it is time for DP Ruto to think outside the box and confront issues that are likely to hamper his presidential bid.

The analyst argues that Raila will contest in the 2022 general election and is on  a political mission to fish for people considered as DP Ruto’s allies.

He claims that the former Prime Minister has not given up on his push to be president.

“Raila Odinga is not taking chances and he is on mission to push for his candidature in 2022,” he said in an interview on Friday.

He added that Raila’s handshakes with people he once considered his political enemies should worry DP Ruto and others eyeing the presidency in 2022.

Ngure said that DP Ruto  should quickly get to the drawing board and counteract Raila’s growing influence through the handshakes.

“The former Prime minster is using the handshake to lobby for support as he lays ground for his fifth attempt on the presidency,” he added.

Raila has unsuccessfully contested for the presidency four times.

A month ago, the former Prime Minister met with President Uhuru Kenyatta and agreed on uniting the country.

The  ODM leader  has since been meeting politicians allied to the ruling government with the message of unity and reconciliation.
