According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Maalim, a close confidant of Kalonzo is likely to go to political oblivion after failing to convince the court to nullify Garissa Township MP Aden Duale’s re-election.

Ngure observes that Maalim has been the machine behind Kalonzo’s political strategies and key decisions, especially in NASA.

In an interview on Tuesday, the Kiambu based analyst said that Kalonzo has been enjoying the majority of Garissa support courtesy of Maalim.

“Farah Maalim’s petition loss sis blow to Kalonzo because he has been the beneficiary of the former Ladgera MP political advice,” he said.

He said that Maalim’s political career might have hit a snag with the High court ruling, adding that it is going to be hard for him to revive himself.

Maalim has been vocal on NASA affairs often warning Kalonzo against certain decisions and actions in regard to the coalition.

The former National assembly deputy speaker openly opposed NASA leader Raila Odinga’s swearing in as the people’s president.

Maalim claimed that the oath was not backed by law and has been categorical that Kalonzo will not be sworn in.

The former MP has also been advocating for Kalonzo’s withdrawal from NASA claiming that NASA leader Raila Odinga will not honor the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he signed with Kalonzo last year.

On Tuesday, the High court dismissed the petition Maalim had lodged against Garissa MP Aden Duale’s re-election.

The court termed the petition as week ruling that Duale was validly elected.

Maalim was slapped withSH6 million fine as costs for the petition.

The former lawmaker has vowed to appeal the ruling.
