Led by Wetangula and his Deputy Boni Khalwale, the party issued the below statement:

"FORD-Kenya party resolves; That the Party through our Party leader had advocated for dialogue since the botched elections of 2017. This now appears to have come to fruition after the meeting between Raila and Uhuru.

We as a party support the initiative without reservation given that it is expected that the dialogue will be structured and all-inclusive to ensure national unity, inclusive management of national affairs, and electoral justice among others.

These are Key national issues to ensure a cohesive, inclusive, united and prosperous nation.

The party is also alive to the ongoing divisive machinations in NASA coalition orchestrated by one of the partners-ODM, who have taken it upon themselves to ridicule and demonise the other partner parties in the coalition and their leadership.

As a party we take great exception to this turn of events especially those targeting the leadership structure in the two houses of parliament.

FORD-Kenya wishes to express its unequivocal support and confidence in the leadership of Hon. Moses Wetang’ula as the leader of the minority in the Senate.

The developments don’t Augur well for the often stated need for inclusivity, nor do they provide hope for future comprehensive checks and balances nor oversight over the executive as is supposed to be performed by the minority.

This is a constitutional duty that cannot be treated lightly by the minority.

As the nation prepares for this much anticipated dialogue and the outcome of the same, new avenues for dissent and acrimony should be nipped in the bud for that dialogue to have universally acceptable outcomes.

As NEC of the party, we encourage our party leadership to now focus on rejuvenating the party and only engage with like-minded entities that believe in democratic governance and believe in people centered rather than individual centered leadership.

The party will now enthusiastically live up to it’s constitutionally mandated role to hold the government and its new partners to account on behalf of the Kenyan people who require and deserve an accountable government."
