Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday accompanied Deputy President William Ruto to Nakuru for a church fundraising in Bahati.
Gachagua was thrust to the public recently when a man said to be his bodyguard attacked a woman during a by-election for the Ruguru county assembly seat.
The lady Martha Miano, had showed up at a police station to report a case of election malpractice.She clashed with the MPs handlers and one of the man was captured on video slapping her.
The video caused uproar on social media where netizens demanded action against the perpetrators of the action.
“He should be arrested and charged. The MP should also take responsibility as he did nothing after his people assaulted an election observer,” Peter Giggs posted.
While accompanying Ruto to Nakuru, Gachagua was among those who contributed large amounts of money to the fundraiser.
DP Ruto gave Sh2, 000, 000, Governor Lee Kinyanjui 100, 000, Senator Susan Kihika 200, 000 and Gachagua Sh100, 000.
The Mathira MP gave the highest amount among MPs.
“How come Gachagua followed Ruto to Nakuru and gave all this money, is he making us forget about his handlers latest assault,” Milka Webs posted on Facebook.
