As we approach the home stretch of politics with elections looming in 2017, the buzz going around in popular media is focused on politicians joining alliances, opting out of others and making conscious efforts in gatherings to win electorates over.
But the limelight has shifted firmly to the 2022 succession politics.
The focus has actually been on DP Ruto.
Over the couple of weeks, Ruto's deeds have caused ripples among politicians, those in Jubilee as well as those in Opposition.
It began with Kiambu Governor William Kabogo's statement that the Mt. Kenya region will not necessarily vote for Ruto in 2022, then Jubilee nominated senator Ben Njoroge asked the DP to stop blackmailing the Kikuyu community to vote for him in 2022.
Media stations have carried this debate about whether DP Ruto will succeed Uhuru in 2022. Various sections of the electorates have called for patience, that 2017 should be over first.
All the while the Opposition, embroiled in its own issues with its members and officials most notably Ababu Namwamba divide opinion.
So, is it a done deal for Jubilee to assume that 2017 is given? And that they should now focus on 2022? Like Jakoyo Midiwo said, politics has a way of serving up cruel reality.
I say, let's get over 2017 first. Photo:
