Radio is known to have the largest audience in Kenya compared to other media channels. Over the years, the Kenyan radio scene has been graced with different talented personalities.
A number of them have managed to evolve with the changing times. However, those who ruled the airwaves a while back disappeared without a trace. Today we take a look at former radio queens who ventured into other fields.
Sheila Mwanyigha
She has been in radio for over 11 years. With her engagement in Easy FM (now Nation FM) under Nation Media Group, she had a large number of listeners and followers. Mwanyigha is remembered for hosting the morning show at the then Easy FM. However, she quit radio after she was fired in 2015 where she has now ventured into personal businesses. The presenter has graced a number of billboards for local brands. It is believed that Mwanyigha is currently working on a music comeback in the near future.
Kalekye Mumo
Kalekye ruled the urban airwaves during her time at Kiss 100. During her entire time at Kiss 100, Mumo partnered with Shaffie Weru. The duo hosted two major shows . For over ten years in the industry, she worked for HomeBoyz radio, Capital FM before joining Kiss 100. However, she quit radio in July 2016 where she started her own TV show on K24. Mumo has been working on fitness awareness campaigns as well as running her online radio show.
Natasha Sanaipei TandeSanaipei was born in 1985 and in 2004 she joined Capital Fm. She later joined Kiss 100 in 2007 where she gained popularity. Her radio journey came to an end after she joined Nation FM in 2013. Sanaipei was fired just after two years after just after two years. Sanaipei later ventured into the music industry with her latest collabo being “Chaguo la Moyo” featuring Otile Brown. #missinginfluencers
