Just like the September landmark ruling that nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory, Kenya’s apex court dominated the international headlines on Monday.

A unanimous decision by six judges declared President Uhuru Kenyatta validly and legally elected in the October election that was widely boycotted by the opposition.

Britain’s BBC said: “Kenya Supreme Court upholds Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory amid protests” adding that there were ‘celebrations in government strongholds and demonstrations in opposition territories’.

The Independent newspaper said: “Kenya Supreme Court upholds President Kenyatta’s 98 percent victory as two protestors die in clashes.”

At the city’s Kibra slums, one protestor was shot dead by the police according to the chief Enock Maloba while another protestor was also killed by the police in Migori town, adds the paper.

America’s New York Times said: “Kenya court upholds President’s election win” adding that the latest ruling would bring to an end of continuous cycles of elections.

Uhuru had garnered 98 percent of votes from the 38 percent of total number of registered voters in an election that was widely boycotted.

Man opposition leader Raila Odinga has not spoken over the latest development but he is understandably in Zanzibar, in neighbouring Tanzania.
