The decision by opposition leader Raila Odinga to change his NASA coalition to a resistance movement dominated many international media houses as Kenya goes to vote hugely divided.
At a rally in Uhuru Park, Odinga who has since bolted out of the Thursday polls, said the new movement will help fight impunity and restore constitutional order.
New York times, a US paper said:"Raila Odinga tells his supporters to boycott presidential elections saying his opposition movement will be transformed to a resistance movement."
A similar headline was replicated in the AFP which however said, the new development shows huge cracks in Kenya's ethnic based politics.
"Tough times for Kenya as the country goes to polls divided. Opposition leader Raila Odinga now changes his coalition to a resistance movement, people will be keen to see how events unfold."
Britain's Daily Mail said in one of fascinating headlines:"Kenya's opposition leader urges boycott at the eve of rerun vote, calls for formation of a resistance movement."
The repeat poll was occasioned by Odinga's petition at the Supreme Court that led to nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory.
Although he did not give further details on how he intends to coordinate the resistance movement, Odinga however urged his supporters to keep off from the polling stations.
