It is no doubt that the warm hug between Uhuru and Raila has tremendously cooled the political temperatures in a nation that has persistently threatened to go to the dogs every election period because of the wide political rift between the Kenyattas and Odingas.
Yet behind the handshake that was finally upscaled to a hug lies many unanswered questions. It is obvious that the handshake will not make everybody happy in both sides of the political divide.
One may ask, for example, what the famous hug will mean for the political arithmetic of 2022. Again, what role will other political figures like William Ruto and Kalonzo Musyoka, who have not been so privileged in the hugging business, play in this new found bromance?
Yet the biggest question of them all is: are both parties genuine in this hugging business? Specifically, could they be hiding daggers behind the hugs?So many questions and so few answers.
There are also indications that the political difference between the two families could even be superficial. The sudden about-turn by Raila to recognize Uhuru's government shocked friend and foe alike.
Which begs the question: could the two be knowing something that William Ruto and you ccannot figure out?
It is only Raila and President Uhuru who are privileged to answer these questions.All we can do as Kenyans is to sit down, pray and hope for the best.
