It has always been many children's dream to study and later land an opportunity at the institutions of higher learning in Kenya. However, things are no longer the same again.
Graduates have no jobs and are thus left with nothing admirable about their education despite how big the course they studied.
Some years back, university graduates were respected people in society who would be consulted on issues in their community and would be invited to give motivational talks to secondary and primary students.
Todays graduates are now roaming about desperately knocking at the doors of countless offices with no yield.
They are left to do jobs that they never thought they would ever do such as construction labourers and touting.
Some have not yet accepted the bitter fact that they are doing odd jobs they could still do even if they never went to school since they are menial.
They feel their efforts to further their studies was a waste of time and resources, yet their parents struggled a lot to see them finish the 8-4-4 system.
To deal with these hard facts, some graduates have resulted to consuming illicit brews and abusing drugs as they are living with self denial.
It is now even more difficult to tell a child to study hard so that they will have a better future yet all they see are desperate graduates with no means to earn a living.
Or how do you even encourage your younger siblings to study hard yet you the graduate you are can hardly afford credit for your phone?
