Joho, a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga ,says that he is fit to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

The ODM deputy party leader is banking on Raila’s support to clinch the presidency in 2022.

However, Joho’s bid hangs in the balance as claims continue to emerge that Raila will contest again  for the presidency in 2022.

According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Joho’s only option of contesting in 2022 is to quit ODM and the larger NASA coalition.

“Joho will have to quit the Orange party if he is to keep his 2022 ambitions alive,” he said during an interview on Tuesday.

The analyst said that Joho must also reach out and partner with other leaders across the divide in order to sale his 2022 bid.

“Governor Joho has options in case his 2022 presidential bid on ODM ticket backfires,” he added.

Ngure said that Joho is likely to seek partnership with deputy President William Ruto in 2022 if things don’t work his way in ODM.

There have been speculations that Governor Joho could reach out to DP Ruto for partnership.

Last month, a section of Joho’s allies led by Mvita MP Abdulwasmad Nassir said they are negotiating an agreement to have DP Ruto endorse Joho’s 2022 presidential bid.
