Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, has acknowledged his meeting with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

The ODM deputy party leader met the KANU chairman after he paid him a courtesy call at his (Joho) Mombasa office.

The meeting raises speculations over Joho and Moi's 2022 presidential ambitions.Moi who is a political nemesis to Deputy President William Ruto, also seeks to vie for presidency as well and could be seeking coastal region's support through Joho, Ruto's political rival.

After their meeting, Joho said they deliberated on the unity of the country and the building bridges initiative initiated by Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Addressing the press at his offices, the governor indicated he alongside Moi would be visiting different regions countrywide to spread peace messages.

"The Kanu party leader Senator Gideon Moi and I met this morning at my office and discussed at length ways and means of uniting the country through Building Bridges Initiative. We have agreed to work closely together to bring our people together and better their lives," Joho disclosed.

The governor indicated the two would akso reach out to leaders across the country to continue with unity calls.

"We will also reach out to other leaders from across the political divide to boost the journey started by the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga and H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta to heal wounds occasioned by divisive elections in our country," said Joho.

"From now henceforth, you will see us together in the bid to ensure a united and cohesive country," he added.

Their meeting was the first publicly after the two worn re-election on August 8, 2017.
