Leaders allied to the Jubilee Party have continue the talk that they will initiate amendments to sections of the electoral laws to avoid a repeat of the Supreme ruling that annulled the August elections.
According to Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who is also the Senate Majority, elections should be decided on numbers as opposed to the process of transmitting the results.
During the Supreme judgement, the court’s judges said they annulled President Kenyatta’s win based on the illegalities that were committed during the transmission of results.
These changes, according to the leaders will be made before the October 26 polls, when Kenyans will be back at the polls to choose their president.
“We are ready to amend any sections of the law that are a stumbling block to Kenyans in electing their leaders,” said Murkomen, who spoke on Sunday.
The leaders have noted that they are ready to start the process as soon as tomorrow, Tuesday, to ensure it is done in good time before the October polls.
“On Tuesday we will start the process of amending sections of our laws to give IEBC a clear path so that they can conduct the presidential elections once without any issues,” said Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.
The leaders also seem to be favouring the manual transmission of results, which the Jubilee Party supported before the August 8 elections.
