Former National Assembly deputy speaker Farah Maalim has asked Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to make his party stronger if he wants to win the 2022 presidential election.
The Wiper deputy leader in an interview on NTV Am live show on Monday, asked Kalonzo to popularise his party in readiness for 2022.
He said that strengthening and popularizing Wiper will give him (Kalonzo) bargaining power in case he might want to enter into a new coalition.
Maalim said that NASA is on its ‘deathbed’, adding that affiliate parties are shaping new strategies for 2022.
‘‘I have personally told Kalonzo to forget about NASA or the any agreement he had with Raila Odinga because it will not be honored.
‘‘From what we heard and saw during the ODM National governing council meeting on Friday last week, it is evident that Raila will be on the ballot in 2022,’’ he added.
The future of NASA remains uncertain with political analysts predicting its fall soon.
A section of the coalition affiliate parties have openly expressed their opinions in regards to the coalition future even as claims of cracks continue to emerge.
Last week, Raila, Kalonzo and Musalia Mudavadi assured supporters that they are united and committed to NASA electoral reforms agenda.
Kalonzo’s party has planned a national delegates meeting to decide on the party’s future in the NASA coalition.
According to Wiper party National organizing secretary general Robert Mbui, the delegates meeting set for March 16 will address the party’s membership to NASA and chart way forward in regards to Kalonzo’s 2022 presidential bid.
