The opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal has failed to identify and utilize the golden opportunity lying before him, a chance that will enable him represent the powerless citizens and boost his 2022 presidential bid.

With the increasing number of graft scandals being unearthed, the former Vice President should come out of his hideout, break his silence and assume the head of opposition role.

Being the second in command in NASA, he should take over from his boss and Orange party chief, Raila Odinga, who has since remained mum and is seemingly uninterested in the issue and offer direction with regards to dealing with the menace.

He has to condemn where necessary and cut out the loud silence which has prevailed within the opposition quarters since Odinga's March 9 reconciliation with President Uhuru Kenyatta, and also address the remaining issues of national importance.

He should also prove himself to Kenyans and demonstrate his leadership qualities at this time when the nation needs a quick remedy, as currently, he looks like an over dependent individual who cannot operate in the absence of the former Premier.

He also has to use the opportunity to prove to the nation why it needs a new leadership,, refute Deputy President William Ruto's pending candidature, and explain to the nation why he should be the one to lead the opposition into government in 2022.
