Wiper Party Deputy leader Farah Maalim has hit out at opposition leader accusing him of using unity and reconciliation push to campaign for 2022.
Maalim claims that Raila is lobbying for 2022 and that the unity and reconciliation tag is to confuse his politician nemesis.
According to Maalim, the former Prime Minister has taken advantage of the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta a month ago to reach out to people he think will be important if he bids for 2022.
“Raila Odinga’s handshakes and meetings is good for unity but he should tell Kenyans the truth because he is using it to campaign and lobby for 2022,” he said as quoted by a local daily.
Maalim asked Raila to be genuine as he engages the Jubilee government in unity and reconciliation.
He said that politician’s across he divide have to be truthful and focus on uniting Kenyans.
“We all want a united country but first our leaders should be sincere and stop taking advantage of the opportunity to campaign and lobby for their interests,” he said.
Maalim asked Kenyans to back the unity push saying it will result into much needed electoral reforms in the country.
On Thursday, Raila met with retired president Daniel Moi in a surprise meeting that continues to draw wide reactions.
The two leaders are said to have discussed on matters national unity.
