Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party chief Kalonzo Musyoka's recently launched presidential ambition means a lot to Deputy President William Ruto.

The former Vice President announced that he will be going for the top post in the forthcoming 2022 general elections during a Kamba leader's meeting held in Machakos on Monday.

This has, as a result, simplified Ruto's job, who now only hopes that Musyoka sticks to the declaration.

With Musyoka on the ballot, the Kamba community is likely to back him, reducing possibilities of the community ganging up with others to challenge Ruto's bid.

This is likely to further sweeten, should Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, who has also announced his bid, challenge the two.

With a full backing of his Rift Valley backyard and the Mt. Kenya region, Ruto needs as many opponents form the other regions, leading to a division which will see him match straight to the throne.

To broaden his victory, he will only need to establish successful strategies that will see him make inroads into the area, biting into a portion of the vote-rich region.

The DP will also need to lock out any other aspirant from his vote baskets to further solidify his win.
