Rumba fans were recently treated to a rude shock when their scheduled show was called off due to the main performer's- Congolese maestro Koffi Olomede-conduct at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The musician was captured on video assaulting one of her female dancers. Kenyans on Tweeter (KOT) did not take the matter lightly and called for the government to deport him to Congo. Moreso, his Zambia show was cancelled due to his careless actions.
However, Kenyan musicians and other artists should take it as a challenge and work on how to avoid such occurrences. Here are some tips they should know.
You are an ambassador of your own brand
Gaining a 'name' or becoming famous in Kenyan music industry not easy. However, if you are known, everybody will die for your performance. Once you make a mistake in Kenya, KOT are always there to pull you down.
it is important that every musician therefore learns how to brand himself to avoid new names like 'Koffi oloteke'
Always manage your anger
Small issues can rise to bigger things. All musicians should know that stupid actions made out of anger can ruin their talent/career forever, therefore they should learn how to control their emotions.
Respect ladies
In Kenya, the parliament is fighting for the two-third gender rule. This means that even female artists should be heard. Koffi should have known that Kenyans value women, artists are therefore supposed to treat female artists carefully and not to make them victims of violence.
