Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya led the County leadership in welcoming the Deputy President William Ruto as he launched construction of Kanana-Shimoni road which will also have a connection to Majoreni-Jego.
The road will connect Lungalunga-Vanga road which was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta, with the construction expected to take 36 months.
Mvurya said days of politicking were gone.
"As government we began this development journey and we’ll ensure we further transform our people’s lives through our transformative agenda," said the Jubilee governor on Monday.
Mvurya registered his appreciation to the president and his deputy for also appointing sons and daughters of Kwale County as directors in various boards, saying this depicts the value of forming government.
"The construction of roads within our county has began in our county opens up and presents various opportunities for citizens. I want to urge each one of us to position himself/herself and grab the opportunities that come forth. This is the time for us to look into the future with hope that had been bruised over the years."
On his part, Ruto said youth should acquire expertise through vocational training, provided by Technical Training Institutes (TTIs) across the country, to power our development.
"As we expand and modernise our infrastructure to advance manufacturing, industry, create jobs and grow the economy, we require a skilled, competent workforce. It is incumbent on the youth to acquire expertise through vocational training, provided by Technical Training Institutes (TTIs) across the country, to power our development," Ruto said.
