Kuria said he talked to Odinga, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Kalonzo Musyoka on phone when the Cord leaders visited them at Pangani Police Station during their detention.

“Odinga requested if I could join him for a lunch of fish once we are released. I accepted the invitation though with a minor condition, that he assures me that my favourite vegetable Osuga will be in plenty, which he committed himself to do. I will hold him to his word,” Kuria said.

Kuria said he reconciled with Odinga over his assassination remarks that led to his arrest.

Odinga later announced that he had forgiven the outspoken MP, saying he was only “entertaining his followers”.

Raila said on Friday that he was sure the Gatundu South MP did not mean what he reportedly said.

He said Kuria would not make a public announcement if he intended to kill him.

“As soon as we were ushered into the cell, we quickly drafted some quick ground rules. We agreed that no matter what we would remain in that cell as a joint team where there would be neither Cord nor Jubilee. We appointed Muthama our team leader deputised by myself,” Kuria added during an interview on NTV.

Kuria said the detained legislators discussed with their legal team, led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and John Khaminwa, so as to approach their hate speech case collectively for them to be released.

The eight MPs accused of incitement were later released by Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo on Friday on bond.

They all denied incitement charges before Judge Ogembo.

Kuria and Ferdinand Waititu were released on a Sh5 million bond or alternative cash bail of Sh2 million.

The other six were released on Sh300, 000 cash bail or a bond of Sh1 million.

Kuria alongside Junet Mohammed (Suna East), Timothy Bosire (ODM, Kitutu Masaba), Kimani Ngunjiri (TNA, Bahati), Ferdinand Waititu (TNA, Kabete) and Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama were held at Pangani.

Women representatives Florence Mutua (Busia) and Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) were held at Muthaiga Police Station.
