Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria through Moses Kuria Foundation in conjunction with Qatar Charity on Saturday distributed assorted foodstuffs to more than 5,000 of his constitutuents who are over 70-year-old.
Taking to his Facebook page, Kuria said that the distribution of the assorted foodstuffs was successfully done in all the 38 Gatundu South sub-locations.
"Ahead of Labour Day celebrations on Tuesday, today we distributed assorted foodstuffs to more than 5,000 senior citizens aged 70 years and above from all the 38 sub-locations in Gatundu South," he said.
"This is an initiative of The Moses Kuria Foundation and proudly supported by our partners, The Qatar Charity," he added.
The legislator also seized the opportunity to call upon the government through the Ministry of East African Community, Labour and Social Protection to speed up the registration of all senior citizens for the Inua Jamii Programme, a flagship fronted by the Jubilee government to enhane social protection and elderly' welfare.
"I take the opportunity to request the relevant national government department to speed up the registration of all senior citizens for the Inua Jamii programme, a key flagship programme by the Jubilee government that will enhance social protection," he said.
