Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi's turnaround decision to back the constitutional amendment push is a big blow to his Ford Kenya counterpart and fellow National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Moses Wetangula.

The Bungoma Senator now seems all lonely and deserted in his earlier vow to punish NASA chief Raila Odinga over their recent disagreements, as opposing the referendum bid was the first move towards sabotaging his political moves.

This should also act as an eye-opener to him and his party with regards to his 2022 presidential bid, a journey they are to embark on together.

The former Deputy Premier's move is an indication that he could as well turn around in the course of the bid, leaving Wetangula on the losing end while he goes ahead to join the rival side.

Wetangula should also reconsider his stand in the ongoing plans to merge the two parties as Mudavadi has demonstrated his inability to stand unswayed and could end up leading a section of their yet-to-be-announced new party away after the merger.

This will be an additional embarrassment to Wetangula who has since vowed to use the upcoming front to block Odinga who has been the main beneficiary of the Western Kenya vote in his past presidential bids.

Finally, the move means that Mudavadi could be wholly on his way back to Odinga's quarters, again marooning Wetangula's push for the Luhya Unity, an initiative also aimed at blocking Odinga from accessing the Luhya vote, further bringing his political power under question.
