More details have emerged about quarry worker who killed his whole family and himself at Malaba village, Juja in Kiambu County.

Patrick Nderitu, a quarry supervisor, stabbed his three children and wife, Rosemary Kanini, to death before setting himself ablaze in Tuesday's bizarre incident.

Nderitu's mother, Cecilia Wangeci Karuiru, has revealed that his son had a 'problem' which he wanted to open up to her but died before speaking up.

"On Monday evening I received a call from Nderitu informing me to visit his home in Juja on Tuesday morning. When I asked what the visit was all about, he said there was something he wanted to tell me."

"When I enquired further, my son said he had a problem he wanted to speak to me about but insisted he couldn't do so over the phone," she recalled.

Wangeci, who lives at Kiamabara village in Karatina, Nyeri County, said she learnt about the tragic demise of Nderitu and his entire family on her way to Juja.

The mother also claimed that her son had been kidnapped by unknown people over the weekend.

"I had tried to call him over the weekend but his phone was off. I was told by his wife that he returned on Sunday night claiming he had been kidnapped," Wangeci said.

Some sections of the media have reported Nderitu committed the shocking act after he was conned of money in a deal gone sour.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kiambu that you want Hivisasa to cover? Tell us what is happening by joining this group and have it published.
