Details are emerging of a closed door meeting that reportedly happened between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nakuru leaders on Friday.
According to sources, a plot was hatched immediately it was reported that Uhuru was to preside over the General Service Officers pass out at the Lanet Military Academy, for Nakuru leaders to meet the president.
The plot was for these leaders, led by Lee Kinyanjui, to convince Uhuru to reward the county with a Cabinet Secretary slot for being loyal to the coalition.
Sources said South Rift is bargaining for two CS and two PS positions.
The leaders were unable to meet Uhuru on Thursday.
The meeting, however, was fixed for Friday and an MP confirmed it took place.
On Friday, Kenyatta was at the World Ploughing Contest in Ngongengeri farm in Njoro.
"We wanted to have a talk with the president and convince him. Leaders felt we would convince him because this time he was alone. It was the first time we were meeting him.without his DP," an MP, who cannot be named, said.
It is not yet clear what was the president's response.
Earlier reports indicated former Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua name has been mentioned in circles discussing the hirings.
