Nakuru residents have reacted angrily after realising they have been feasting on samosas made of cat meat.
Police on Sunday arrested a middle-aged man skinning a cat at an open field in the area.
James Mukangi admitted he had been selling the domestic animal's meat to unsuspecting samosa vendors in the populous town.
Speaking to journalists, he said he had been in the trade for six years and had slaughtered about 1000 which he sells at Sh500 each.
"I began this business in 2012 after I saw there was need for the meat by samosa sellers. I tell my clients that I get the meat from Gioto but they do not know it is cat meat," Mukangi said.
After the revelation, Nakuru residents took to social media to express their anger, shock and fear over the 'delicacy' they have been enjoying.
Peter Kimani said: "Wooooiiii...last week samosas were somehow bitter. I wonder why? Just to see this guy today. Isorait...Mark 16:17, Even poison will not harm us."
"Aki yawa! This guy has a special place in hell," said Farb Mash.
Sammy Ole Mworia remarked: "No wonder after eating road side meat I feel like drinking milk."
Charles Kiboi said: "He needs to be skinned too."
Susan Kamau: "No wonder I hate samos, unless nipike mwenyewe."
"You mean he made a whooping half a million shillings?" posed Daniel Nganga.
Grama Mresh said: "I prefer kula kanyau (cat) than illicit brews."
