The National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have shifted focus to scheming how they can trounce Jubilee in the August polls after unveiling their line-up.
The opposition pentagon leaders – Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Ruto – will today start a two-day retreat at the Coast to craft a campaign strategy.
The leaders will be joined by a team of experts who will help in strategising how to tackle their rivals in the ruling party.
“This time, Kenyans should expect a campaign strategy and team that will rally them behind their manifesto. We will put in place a united and energetic team,” a source close to the team told The Nation.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale confirmed the retreat through his Twitter page.
“Headed to Mombasa for the first NASA Pentagon retreat…” he said on Monday.
The experts to attend the two day meeting are Dr David Ndii, Dan Ameyo, Dr Mutakha Kangu, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and Koitamet ole Kina.
Members of the 12- member national coordinating committee - senators James Orengo (Siaya), Johnson Muthama (Machakos) and MPs Sakwa Bunyasi (Nambale) and Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren) – will also be at the retreat.
The NASA leaders are said to be headed to Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County.
LINE-UP DISMISSED
President Uhuru Kenyatta dismissed the NASA line-up, saying it was meant to creat jobs for the five leaders, and not benefit Kenyans.
During the unveilling of their flag bearer at Uhuru Park Thursday last week, NASA created a Premier Cabinet Secretary position, and two Deputy Premier Cabinet Secretary positions.
In the line-up, Raila will be the President (if NASA wins the elections) and Kalonzo the Deputy President.
Mudavadi will become the Premier Cabinet Secretary and the two DPCS positions will be occupied by Wetangula and Governor Ruto.
“This was never about the country. It was about giving jobs for themselves instead of the millions of Kenyans who need jobs,” Uhuru said.
