Opposition team NASA says it will take over Nairobi once Raila Odinga jets back from the country as the ongoing political crisis takes shape.
At Jacaranda rally on Sunday, NASA leaders urged supporters to turn in large numbers and occupy Jogoo Road all the way to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
“We shall match along Jogoo Road and ensure Odinga is given a befitting reception. That is when we shall set pace for revolution,” said Embakasi East lawmaker Babu Owino.
In 2014, Odinga received a similar reception after three months stay in the US, an event which led to his latest nickname ‘Baba’ which translates loosely to ‘father’.
Ex- advisor to the retired Prime Minister Miguna Miguna says on Thursday, supporters will storm and occupy all streets of Nairobi.
“I invite all NASA supporters to walk to JKIA and welcome the people’s president when he comes on Thursday. Take over Nairobi on that day,” he said.
Although there is a presidential petition challenging Uhuru’s victory, NASA is not keen this time on the court case, adding that they will use other avenues to push for electoral justice.
