Nasa leadership has maintained that they will stage their demonstrations as planned, and will not be deterred by any threats.
Speaking at the Orange House in Nairobi, ODM Chairman John Mbadi said their planned demonsrtations to remove IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba ‘and his cronies’ will go on as planned.
“We wish to reiterate that the right to picket and to peaceful assembly is enshrined in our constitution, and these rights are not provided by the state, but are alienable to every Kenyan,” said Mbadi.
He reiterated that it was their right to hold demonstrations, and should receive security to ensure they are safe.
“As citizens who respect the rule of law, we did what is expected by law by giving notice of our intentions to the police, the police acknowledged receipt of our notice, and we therefore expect them to provide us with maximum security during the demonstration” he said.
He added: “We will therefore exercise this right without fear of intimidation, and we urge Kenyans of goodwill to join us as we agitate for the removal of the corrupt and criminal Ezra Chiloba and his cronies from the IEBC,”
The NASA coalition has moved to the streets to force out Chiloba and some other IEBC officials, whom they have accused of being part of a wider scheme that led to the bungled August polls.
