With the August 8 polls inching closer, ODM Secretary General Agnes Zani is among the politicians who will not be seeking any elective seat.
Dr Zani was among the front runners to succeed the late Kwale Senator Boy Juma Boy who passed on in February. However, she shelved her ambitions following the entry of her brother Nicholas Zani into the race.Since she was nominated to the Senate in 2013, Dr Zani has been one of the active members in the Upper House with one Bill to her name.Following the exit of Ababu Namwamba from ODM, she was elevated to the position of party Secretary General where she has been performing well.Her future in politics remains unclear following her decision not to run for any political seat during the August 8 elections.However, reports indicate that she is among those gunning for the 20 nominated senator slots in the Senate.With the nominated slots in the senate reserved for women, people living with disabilities and the youth, the former university don stands a good chance of returning to the August House.Again, should NASA form the next government, many opportunities will come knocking including a Cabinet Secretary position.
